There is sometimes confusion over which type of gown nursing students should hire, and we hope that the following advice will make it clearer:
Qualified nurses and midwives traditionally wear a metal pin-badge on their lapels. Upon receipt of professional registration, our newly qualified graduates are eligible to wear the Department’s badge.
Your badge can be purchased from staff in Nursing and Midwifery’s Stirling Campus Office in Room 3T37 of the R G Bomont Building. They would be delighted to welcome you on the day!
The Nursing and Midwifery Departmental badge is available for purchase through the Highland Health Sciences Library in Inverness at a cost of £12.00 (plus 50p for postage). At our Western Isles Campus, the badge is available from the Campus Office.
If you buy your badge at graduation, then your eligibility can be easily checked by departmental colleagues. For the purchase of badges at times other than graduation, you may need to show evidence that your NMC registration is current.
Please arrange to return all uniforms to your Campus Office once you have completed all your required practice.
A Destination Survey Questionnaire will be issued, with the Guidance Notes, to students completing the programme.
The University of Stirling is required to compile this information for the Scottish Government in order for them to assess future requirements. It is important that you take the time to complete the form and return it to your Campus.
