Kevin Clarke is an alumnus of the University of Stirling and served as University Secretary for 17 years until March 2012. The University is pleased to announce that we will award an annual prize in his name and details are attached in the link above. Please note that the inaugural prize will be awarded to a student from the School of Arts & Humanities in 2013.
The invitation to attend graduation was sent to your student email address and must be completed whether you wish to attend the ceremony or graduate in absentia. Please note that the graduation fee is £50 whether you graduate in person or in absentia. The deadline to complete the invitation was midnight on Sunday 19 May. If you have forgotten to complete the invitation, please contact smro.graduation@stir.ac.uk
Each graduand is entitled to their own ticket and two guest tickets.
In addition, the University is pleased to confirm that additional guest tickets are available for all summer graduation ceremonies and will be on sale from 9am on Tuesday 21 May. In the first instance, you may apply for two additional guest tickets. This is in addition to, and separate from, your two standard guest tickets. Additional guest tickets will be sold on the basis of first-come, first-served until supplies are exhausted.
However, we recognise that some guests may wish to purchase more than four guest tickets. If ticket supplies allow, these will be made available from 9am on Thursday 30 May.
Please do not make travel or accommodation arrangements for additional guests unless you have secured additional tickets. Guest tickets to families and friends and other guests will be made available at the University's discretion.
The tickets for graduation will be mailed (if UK) approximately one week prior to the graduation ceremony you have selected. Alternatively, if your address is overseas your graduation tickets will be available for collection in person approximately one week prior to the graduation from 2Z Student Administration or you can collect them at the graduation event. If your home address changes, you must advise smro.graduation@stir.ac.uk
All graduands must wear a University of Stirling academic gown and hood. You should wear smart clothes eg a suit, dress or national dress, and we recommend that your top should have a button so that you can secure your hood to your clothing. You do not need to wear black and white.
Academic dress is supplied by Ede & Ravenscroft and this must be hired or bought in advance. You may pay by credit or debit card and should bring your order confirmation details with you on the day.
If you do not have access to a PC, hire or buy from the Call Centre on 01223 861 854 – 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on Monday to Friday. Facilities for the deaf and hard of hearing or those with speech impairment are available using a Textphone – please dial 1800101223861854 to access the RNID Typetalk system.
Your academic dress will be brought, by Ede & Ravenscroft, for collection on the day of your graduation and should be returned on the same day. The website address is www.gownhire.co.uk
If you choose to graduate in absentia then you have chosen not to attend the ceremony and your degree will be conferred in your absence. When you receive the online invitation to graduation, choose the option to graduate in absentia. Your degree certificate will be sent the week following the graduation ceremony provided you have completed the invitation in full.
Ede & Ravenscroft, the University's provider of academic dress hire for graduations, has also been appointed as the official supplier of graduation photography services. When you visit Ede & Ravenscroft's website to order your academic dress, you will have the opportunity to order photography at the same time.
Information on our winter ceremonies will be available in Autumn 2013.
